Tumor Marker
We can measure substances such as proteins produced by cancer cells, known as “tumor markers,” to help detect cancer at an early stage.
A special discount is available if the test is performed at the same time as a health check.
You can also undergo a comprehensive blood test including lifestyle disease markers at the same time as a tumor marker test.
What are Tumor Markers?
A tumor marker test is a test performed on blood or urine that can assist in diagnosing cancer, in follow-up observation after diagnosis, in assessing the effect of treatment, etc.
Tumor marker levels are generally thought to rise as the amount of cancer in the body increases and to fall as it decreases. Using this property, we can estimate the amount of cancer in the body and examine the course of the cancer, the effect of treatment, etc.
Depending on the type of cancer, several markers may be combined in a single test.
Factors unrelated to the amount of cancer — the influence of conditions other than cancer, as well as aging, pregnancy, menstruation, alcohol consumption, smoking, components of medications, etc. — can affect marker levels. In addition, depending on the type of cancer, in rare cases levels may not rise even when cancer is present.
For this reason, if you have symptoms, we recommend consulting a doctor, including about whether you also need tests other than tumor marker tests.

The main tumor markers for each type of cancer are as follows.

Included: complete blood count, liver function, kidney function, electrolytes, uric acid, CK, TG, LDL, HDL, blood glucose, HbA1c
When a Tumor Marker Is High
If a tumor marker exceeds the reference range, we recommend having a consultation with a doctor to decide on the next steps.
Tumor marker levels can rise even when there is no cancer, so this alone does not mean a diagnosis of cancer has been made. Depending on your situation, additional testing and a referral to a partner hospital are also possible, so please feel free to consult with us.
