Definition of Premature Ejaculation and Indications for Treatment
Under the definition of premature ejaculation by the International Society for Sexual Medicine, the condition is one that meets all of the following.
Feeling stress or distress about ejaculating quickly
Ejaculating within 1 minute of penetration, or before penetration
Difficulty delaying ejaculation even when the sexual partner changes
However, the above definition is only one measure, and what actually matters is whether the person feels stress or distress.
Even when there is 1 minute or more between penetration and ejaculation, treatment is fully warranted if the person feels stress.

Causes of Premature Ejaculation
Causes of premature ejaculation are broadly considered to fall into 3 types.
Hypersensitivity-type premature ejaculation
The penis and the nerves around it are sensitive, making ejaculation likely with slight, unintended stimulation.
This is because the ejaculatory center responds before sexual arousal transmits the sexual stimulation to the brain.
It tends to occur in relatively young people with strong erectile function and sexual desire (those in their 10s to 20s).
Psychogenic premature ejaculation
Stress or trauma related to sexual activity activates the sympathetic nervous system, making ejaculation more likely.
Stress from work, relationships and the like can be a cause.
This is a condition in which lack of confidence, tension or anxiety makes the timing of ejaculation impossible to control.
Debility-type premature ejaculation
With aging, a decline in male hormone (testosterone) occurs, leading to reduced muscle mass.
As the muscle strength that controls ejaculation weakens, ejaculation becomes more likely.
Most cases of debility-type premature ejaculation are seen in those in their 40s to 60s, when male hormone secretion declines.
In cases of debility-type premature ejaculation, ED (erectile dysfunction) may also be present.
What is Poxet (Dapoxetine)?
We have introduced Poxet (a generic version of dapoxetine), a medication for premature ejaculation.
Taking Poxet increases the amount of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that brings mental stability, and relatively reduces the amount of adrenaline, which is a source of arousal and tension.
By this mechanism of action, it resolves the excessive arousal that comes from the serotonin deficiency that is the main cause of premature ejaculation, and extends the time until ejaculation.
Medications for premature ejaculation are not approved in Japan, but they are authorized in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Taking ED treatment medication strengthens firmness during erection, and can be expected to extend the time until ejaculation.
Side Effects and Precautions for Poxet
The side effects and precautions for Poxet are as follows.
Nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, etc.
If you have a pre-existing heart or liver condition, or are taking antidepressants, please consult with a doctor.
Please do not take more than the upper limit of 90mg within 24 hours.
When using it, please refrain from drinking alcohol.
Combination with ED Treatment Medication Is Also Effective
Taking ED treatment medication strengthens firmness during erection, and can be expected to extend the time until ejaculation.
Taking it together with medication for premature ejaculation poses no problem; rather, when premature ejaculation has multiple causes, taking them together can be expected to produce even greater effect.
Medication for premature ejaculation and ED treatment medication are not habit-forming, so using these medications does not mean you will become unable to have sex normally.
